Game Art for the new Bond title IO Interactive

The arrival of the hotly anticipated James Bond video game, titled 007 First Light, will now arrive later until 27 May 2026.

Initially scheduled for a 27 March release, the title is now set to arrive approximately a couple of months after its initial date.

A Much-Needed Comeback for 007

This project signifies the maiden video game starring the iconic British spy following 2012's 007 Legends, wrapping up a extended hiatus for the character in the gaming world.

"007 First Light is entirely complete from the first mission to the last," explained studio IO Interactive. "But, we are taking this extra time to apply final touches and ensure it satisfies the demanding benchmarks of our players."

Development Particulars and Narrative Components

The game is being developed in association with Delphi Interactive, a studio also responsible for another major title.

Patrick Gibson, recognized from Dexter: Original Sin, will portray a young James Bond in what is promoted as a new look at the early days.

The narrative will follow Bond as he is recruited into MI6 and earns his prestigious 00 status, presenting a standalone story independent of the films or books.

Star-Studded Cast and Gameplay Glimpses

Adding to the celebrity appeal, US singer Lenny Kravitz has been revealed as the project's primary antagonist.

Early preview videos have highlighted shared mechanics with IO Interactive's successful Hitman franchise, while also highlighting the classic gadgets and cinematic set pieces synonymous with Bond.

Nonetheless, some feedback on these trailers voiced concerns over visual performance, noting performance hiccups and excessive motion blur.

An Ambitious Project

IO Interactive has called 007 First Light its "biggest project to date."

"Our team is sure this sets 007 First Light up for long-term success," the studio added. "Thank you for the patience and ongoing enthusiasm we've received."
