Two-time heavyweight champion Joshua Discharged from Hospital in Lagos Following Deadly Road Accident

Olympic gold medalist Anthony Joshua has been released from care, local government spokespeople confirmed on Wednesday evening. The fighter was involved in a car accident in the Lagos area on December 29th, a horrific crash that claimed the lives of two of his close associates.

Under Observation for Minor Injuries

Joshua had been receiving medical attention while recovering from minor injuries, representatives had said on Monday. A government official, Gbenga Omotoso, announced via a post online that Joshua was judged healthy enough to “recuperate at home”.

“Joshua and his mother were at the funeral home in Lagos this afternoon to pay their final respects to his two deceased friends as they were being readied to be sent home,” the commissioner stated.

Remembering the Victims

The two men who died were identified as Latif Ayodele, Joshua's trainer, and Sina Ghami, a performance coach. It was also noted that the champion was filled with sorrow and full of emotions over the passing of his two close friends.”

His release from the hospital comes as the sports world had expressed its support for the fighter in the following the terrible crash.
